Software
Yxendis, a French-based solution
developer for the textile industry, highlighted
several software packages, which aim to facilitate
the design process for textile production.
According to
Eric Gianina, Executive Director of Yxendis, YX
Weave Platinum for dobby weaving, YX Weave
Platinum for jacquard mode, and YX Knit Platinium
for knitting, can simulate fabric appearance,
which is subsequently transformed into technical
production data. He says, "Designers can use the
software to design fabrics, and modify their
designs within a very short time. They do not have
to worry about the technical parameter in
producing the fabrics. The software will alert
them if a design is not feasible in production."

"With the presentation software, the user
can simply select a fabric pattern to fill the
preset models, for example, the bedding and the
pillow in the bedroom. The pattern will repeat
itself on the models. This is easier for fabric
buyers to visualize the pattern effects."
Moreover, the company also offers
calibration services which enable customers to
scan a color with a spectrophotometer, apply the
color on a yarn and output the color on a
calibrated printer. "Color management is essential
in the fabric design process. With the calibration
service, color scanned in one location can be
printed out in another location. This caters to
the trend of offshore production," he says.
